Pan Fried Lake Erie Walleye

My grandsons and I recently fished Lake Erie with Spooled Up Charters. Click the link below to read the review of our fishing adventure.

Fishing Lake Erie with Spooled Up Charters

We decided to get together and have ourselves a fish fry with our fresh catch of walleye.

Pan Fried Lake Erie Walleye

Walleye is one of the best fresh fish you could ever ask for, and now we have a freezer full.

Seafood Breading

Preparing our walleye fillets for frying was easy with this Cajun-style seafood breading mix. If Cajun isn't for you, then you can use any breading blend you like.

Pan Frying Instruction:

  1. Place the fillets on a paper towel and pat them dry.
  2. Add the breading mix to a one-gallon storage bag.
  3. Place a couple of the fillets at a time in the bag to coat them.
  4. Coat the bottom of your pan with oil and heat to 375 degrees.
  5. We used Jamie's Hamilton Beach Electric Fryer, set to 375 degrees.
  6. Fry the fillets to golden brown, flipping them once.
  7. The internal temperature should be at least 145 degrees.

Frying Lake Erie Walleye

These walleye fillets made a most delicious meal. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. We served them with French fries and coleslaw.
