Bacon Egg Cheese Breakfast Pizza Recipe

Bacon Egg Cheese Breakfast Pizza Recipe

Who likes pizza for breakfast? Well, how about trying this bacon egg cheese breakfast pizza recipe. I love making all kinds of different pizzas. I've never made my own breakfast pizza before, until now.

Like all pizza, this one is so versatile. You choose and add your own favorite toppings. I choose bacon, egg, and cheese with some fresh green bell peppers.

Quick Pizza Dough Recipe

First I made some quick pizza dough. I greased my 11-inch x 17-inch pizza pan and spread the dough using my handy Norpro Pizza and Pastry Dough Roller.

Scrambled Eggs for Breakfast Pizza

I set the pizza pan aside and then got to work on the preparing the eggs. I whisked together 9 large eggs with 1/2 cup of milk. I added the eggs to my 12-inch skillet and partially scrambled them over medium heat. I also added one slice of sharp cheddar cheese to the eggs while they were cooking for some added flavor. I didn't scramble the eggs completely because they were going into the oven later.

Easy Breakfast Pizza Recipe

I spread the partially cooked eggs onto the dough and spread them as evenly as I could. If your using a smaller pan I think 6 eggs would be enough.

Bacon Egg and Cheese Breakfast Pizza

Next, I added the bacon bits, fresh green bell pepper, and shredded cheddar cheese. Now this delicious breakfast was ready for the oven.

Bacon Egg Cheese Breakfast Pizza Recipe:

For the Dough:

4 cups all-purpose flour
1 package instant Rapid Rise Yeast
1-1/4 cup warm water
2 tablespoons oil
1 teaspoon salt (optional)

Directions:
  1. In a large bowl add the flour, yeast, and salt.
  2. Then add the water and oil,  mix until dough forms. I use my KitchenAid Stand Mixer for this.
  3. If the dough is too sticky add a little more flour. If the dough is too dry add a little more water.
  4. Set the dough aside for about 20 minutes. That's all you need because of the Rapid Rise yeast.
For the Topping:

9 large eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 slice sharp cheddar cheese (Broken into pieces)
1/2 green bell pepper Chopped
1-1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
6 oz. package Hormel Bacon Bits
Salt and Pepper to taste

  3. Add the remaining toppings onto the eggs.

Spinach Pizza Greens

stuffed spinach pizza recipe

This is an old family recipe, one that my grandmother made and one of my favorites. My grandmother called them pizza greens, and I like to keep these old recipes alive.

I’ve had them on my list to make for quite some time now, so I decided it was time to dust this one off.  Pizza Greens from my grandmother’s kitchen to yours.

They consist of seasoned spinach wrapped in wonderful sweet and soft dough. The original recipe calls for cake yeast, which is very hard to find so I had to convert it to dry yeast. If you have read one my previous post All Purpose Dough Recipe, this is not the same dough this dough is much softer and sweeter.

Here is how we make this dough:

2 package dry yeast
1 Egg Beaten
¼ cup white sugar
½ stick butter
½ cup water (lukewarm)
1 cup warm milk (not too hot)

Add the flour, salt, and butter to a mixing bowl; I use my KitchenAid Stand mixer for the dough. Mix the sugar with the lukewarm water, add the yeast, milk, and egg. Add this to the flour mixture and knead until smooth. Cover and let the dough rise.

The Spinach Filling:

1 bag (16oz.) frozen chopped spinach
2 cloves garlic diced
Salt and pepper to taste

Coat the bottom of a 10-inch skillet with the olive oil, add all of your seasonings and cook until spinach is warm.

cooking the spinach

I pulled off pieces of the dough and rolled them to about 6 x 6 inches. Fill them with 2 tablespoons of the spinach filling. Fold over each side and pinch the dough together, pinch the corners and fold up, then flip over onto a greased cookie sheet.

Bake at 350 degrees for about 15 to 20 minutes until they are golden brown.

What I like about this recipe is that there are so many options to add to the spinach filling, such as mushrooms, sausage, ham, and pepperoni; you decide the options are endless.

This recipe yielded me eight nice pizza greens and I had enough dough left over to make six sandwich buns.

Garlic Bread Sticks

Garlic Bread Sticks
Now that the weather is cooler I guess it's okay to fire up the oven and do some baking. I was in the mood for some of my homemade pizza so I decided to make some. The recipe for the dough that I use will yield me three 12 inch pizzas, I only made two and thought I would make some of these garlic bread sticks.

These are so easy to make as just a great snack, or if you're in the mood for garlic bread to go with that pasta you're making for dinner these garlic bread sticks will be perfect. You can find the recipe for the dough here, remember this recipe will yield three pizzas so if you only want to make the bread stick you'll want to reduce it accordingly.

Okay here is how I did this:

I greased a small 13 x 9-inch pan and spread the dough. I used one pound of dough because I wanted to make sure it wasn't thin after I spread it out. I set this aside for about 30 minutes to let the dough rise just a little more. While waiting, finely mince two cloves of garlic.

Then with my pizza cutter, I cut 1-1/2 inch pieces across the width of the pan, this yielded nine pieces. Now brush the top lightly with olive oil, add the garlic, some salt, and pepper to taste, Italian Herb Seasoning, and top off with Romano cheese.

Bake this on the middle rack in your oven at 450 degrees for 15 minutes until the top is golden brown, then cut up the middle after they come out of the oven this will give you 18 nice garlic bread sticks to enjoy.

To roll out my dough I use my Norpro Pastry roller. This is such a handy tool to have in the kitchen. I use this for all of my doughs and pastries.

Here is all that you need to make Garlic Bread Sticks:

1 pound of dough
2 cloves of garlic
Italian Seasoning
Olive oil
Romano cheese
Salt
Pepper

Make these as a snack or serve with any meal, as always I hope you enjoy Thanks for stopping by.

Easy All Purpose Dough

Easy All Purpose Dough

This is quick and easy dough, and if you are in the mood for pizza here is my homemade pizza recipe, or my ever to delicious pepperoni bread. But you may want to use this dough for some great snacks like garlic rolls, breadsticks, and what about that oh so famous fried dough. The kind you buy at your local county fairs, you know the one with sugar all over it.

Here is what you need:

2 packages of active dry yeast
2-1/4 cups of warm water
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar (optional) I don’t use the sugar, you may prefer to use it
3 tbsp of Crisco or oil (I sometimes use light olive oil)
5 to 6 cups of all-purpose flour

Here is all you need to do:

  1. In a measuring cup add the yeast to the warm water. Let this stand until you see some bubbles.
  2. In a large bowl or your KitchenAid mixing bowl add the flour, salt, and oil
  3. Make a well in the flour and pour in the warm water and yeast.
  4. Now start to mix, or place your dough hook and turn on your stand mixer
  5. You want to mix until the dough is nice and smooth and not too sticky.
  6. Cover and let the dough rise for 1 hour or more.
  7. After the dough rises, punch it down and divide it up for whatever you are making.
I get three nice 12” or 14” pizzas from this recipe depending on the thickness of your pizza.

How to make Homemade Pizza

Homemade Pizza right out of the oven

This mouth-watering homemade pizza recipe is handed down from my grandmother. My grandma Liz made the best pizza in the world. Whose grandmother didn't?

When I was a kid and knew she was making pizza I would make a dash for her house, which was easy because she only lived two blocks away.

Oh, the wonderful smell and the anticipation of waiting for it to come out of the oven. This is my recipe for homemade pizza; it's probably not as good as my grandmother's but close and besides it's homemade what more could you ask for?

Here is what you need to make the dough:

· 2 pkg. active dry yeast
· 2-1/4 cups of warm water, not too hot
· 1 tsp salt
· 3 tbsp of Crisco or oil
· 5 to 6 cups of all-purpose flour

This is how you make the dough:
  1. In a measuring cup, add the yeast to the warm water and let it stand.
  2. In a large bowl or your KitchenAid mixing bowl, add the flour, Crisco or oil, salt.
  3. By now the yeast should have mostly dissolved in the water. So pour it into the bowl with the flour.
  4. Mix by hand, or set your KitchenAid mixer on the low setting using the dough hook
  5. Mix until the dough is smooth, and let the dough rise for one hour
This will yield about 3 pizzas 12” to 14” depending if you like thick crust or thin. I like thin crust.

Now we can make the sauce:

· 2 Can (28Oz.) of crushed tomatoes
· 2 or 3 tbsp of light olive oil or vegetable oil
· 1 glove of garlic Finley chopped (you can also add garlic powder)
· 1 Tsp. of oregano or Italian Seasoning
· 1 Tsp. salt - a little pepper

I like to cook my sauce first. Pour the tomatoes into a 1-quart pot, add all of the ingredients. Stir and bring to a boil, not a roaring boil, as soon as you see it start to bubble turn off the burner.

Preheat your oven the 450 degrees, spread the dough in your pizza pan, add your sauce, and sprinkle some Italian seasoning and Romano cheese. I bake two pizzas at a time for about 20 minutes, one pizza on the middle rack and one on top. After 9 or 10 minutes switch the racks.

Now you'll notice that I don't have any other topping on my pizza because this is the way my grandmother made it and I like it this way.

The greatest thing about pizza is that there are so many toppings. Here are some that I do like to add sometimes:

Pepperoni, Mushrooms, Italian Pork Sausage, Anchovies (not my favorite), Green Peppers, Hot Peppers, Mozzarella Cheese. To add your toppings shorten your bake time by about 2 minutes, take them out and add your favorite topping, and put them back in the oven for 2 minutes.

As always Thank you for stopping by, and I hope you enjoyed my recipe.
