Beef and Sausage Chili

A Bowl of Sausage and Beef Chili

On a cold winter day, what could be better than a nice hot bowl of soup? I’ll tell you what could be better, is a pot of this hearty chili.

I’ve made chili plenty of times, and always used the standard chili kit that you find in the grocery store.

My daughter has been making this fantastic chili for a few years now. This chili recipe is amazing and Oh so good. I finally decided that I had to write down everything that she puts in it.

Are you ready? Here is what you need:

2 lbs. of ground beef (80/20)
1 lb. bulk Italian Sausage
1- 16oz. can of White Great Northern Chili Beans (We use Bush’s)
1- 16oz. can of Red Chili Beans (In Medium chili sauce)
1- 16oz. can of Red Chili Beans (In Hot sauce)
2- 6oz. cans of tomato paste
2- 28oz cans diced tomatoes (with juice)
1 large yellow onion (chopped)
2 green chili peppers (seeded and chopped)
10 slices cooked bacon (chopped)
4 cups beef bouillon
½ cup beer (optional)
¼ cup chili powder
2 clove of garlic minced
1 tbs. Worcestershire Sauce
1 tbs. dried oregano
2 tsp. ground cumin
2 tsp. Tabasco sauce
1 tsp dried basil
1 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tsp. paprika
1 tsp. white sugar

For the garnish:

Shredded Cheddar Cheese
Sour Cream
Frito corn chips or crackers

Okay now this part is really easy:

In a large pot, add your meat and cook it until it’s browned
Now drain the grease from the pot
Add everything else into the pot, bring this to a slight boil and then set on simmer
Cook this for 2 hours, adding more seasoning to you taste if needed.

Top off your hearty bowl of chili with some shredded cheddar, and sour cream.
